The pale mountains − the Dolomites
There is hardly anywhere else in the whole of the South Tyrol better suited to walking or biking than the Monte Pana plateau. Take a walk through magnificent mountain landscapes, go on biking excursions to Ciampinoi, to the Alpe di Siusi (direct route), down to Ortisei and along the Val Gardena − to mention but a few of the options available. For more ambitious summit and via ferrata tours consider the Sassolungo Group, the Sella massif or the Geisler mountains.
If you wish to explore its fascinating flora and fauna, the Monte Pana plateau is the best possible starting point for longer tours around the Langkofel. The alpine roses form a delicate pink carpet.
After a climb to the top of one of the nearby peaks, a chilled beer and a traditional South Tyrolean afternoon snack with ham on the Cendevaves sun terrace tastes so much better.
